In a tremendous show of teamwork and drive, CARC clients, families and staff completed 3,150 “Penny Wise” forms which were delivered to Governor Quinn’s Office on Friday, June 11, 2010.
The total number of forms was more than any other agency in Illinois. We are most hopeful this showing of solidarity among community-based service agencies will help the Governor to do the right thing and keep state funding for community services at a fair and proportionate sum.
While the response to this particular drive was heartening, we know there is much more work to be done on a daily basis. We must continue our efforts throughout June.
There is still time for you to complete your form and mail to the Governor.
What to do:
Please 1) print off a copy of the mailing pdf form on the bottom of the page; 2) tape a penny in the circle; 3) sign the form and 4) mail to:
The Honorable Pat Quinn
Illinois Governor
James R. Thompson Center
100 W. Randolph, 16-100
Chicago, IL 60601
2) Ask your family, friends, and colleagues to do the same. (You may also fax your signed forms (without the penny) to CARC’s fax machine (312.346.2218) by Friday, June 18th and we will deliver your forms.)
Thank you for your continued support. The only way we will prevent massive budget cuts is by working together. We must stand as one in support of persons with developmental disabilities and continue to contact Governor Quinn to say no to budget cuts targeting Chicago’s most vulnerable people.
